An Inspirational Story about a Guy with a Good Idea

Patrick Raymond, CEO and Founder of ShowerBow, Inc. has proven that one guy with a good idea can successfully bring his invention to market without the backing of an established manufacturer. Former advertising executive Patrick Raymond was taking a shower one day and had unpleasant sensation of the cold, wet shower curtain blowing in and crowding his shower space. Because he was so irritated with this daily nuisance (and found out through a Zoomerang survey (see “Useful Tools” below) that he was not alone), he invented ShowerBow™, a flexible clear plastic bow and pivoting weight that snaps onto the shower curtain rod to hold the curtain out and create more space. Patrick did explore the licensing route at first but was turned down by several bath accessory manufacturers...not because the idea wasn’t a good one but because it was so new and innovative that it would require a commitment of marketing dollars to effectively introduce it. So Patrick decided to bring it to market himself. He secured funding, hired the award-winning design firm of A2 to design the product, my company to help with the marketing, and former housewares executive John Jiambalvo to sell it in to retailers ... and in less than eighteen months, has gotten commitments from a number of retailers including Linens ‘n’ Things, Ace Hardware, and Amazon.

Stop by booth N4583 at the Housewares Show to find out more about ShowerBow™. Patrick will be conducting product demonstrations every hour on the 25 th minute on both Sunday, March 11 and Monday, March 12.

P.S. If YOU are irritated by the unpleasant sensation of the cold, wet shower curtain blowing in and crowding your shower space, you might want to consider buying your very own Shower Bow™ at www.showerbow.net.
